Bring a touch of sunshine and indulgence to your festive tables with these crispy bites. The sweet and savory combination of our creamy Anjou Red July Fig andthe distinctive flavor of feta cheese is a true invitation to travel.
Ingredients
(Approximately 12 bites)
- 1 jar of Anjou Red July Figs
- 5 sheets of phyllo dough
- 100g of high-quality feta cheese
- 50g melted butter
- Optional: a few sesame or nigella seeds for decoration.
Preparation
The editing
Carefully layer the 5 sheets of phyllo dough on top of each other.
This will give you that characteristic ultra-crispy flakiness.
The upholstery
Spread the red fig mixture generously over the entire length of the rectangle (approximately the first third of the sheet from the edge).
Arrange the pre-cut slices of feta cheese on top.
Shaping
Roll the mixture gently but firmly to form a long, tight roll.
Using a sharp knife, cut into even slices approximately 3 to 4 cm thick.
Gilding
Arrange your bites upright on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush each piece with melted butter using a pastry brush to achieve a golden brown color.
Cooking
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 12 minutes.
Keep an eye on them: the bites should be golden brown and perfectly crispy. ? Tip from the artisan Enjoy these bites straight out of the oven, when the feta is still melted and the pastry is nice and crispy.
You can add a pinch of freshly ground pepper or fresh thyme to the jam before rolling it up for even more flavor!
