Preparation
Base preparation :
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- Unroll the first puff pastry and cut it into equal-sized rectangles (approx. 5 cm x 8 cm). Each rectangle will form the base of the mummies.
Trim :
- Place a teaspoon of fig jam in the center of each rectangle.
- Create the dough strips: Take the second puff pastry and cut it into thin strips (approx. 1 cm wide). These strips will be used to create the mummies' "bandages".
Assembling the mummies :
- Take the cut strips and wrap them randomly around each jam-filled rectangle, to imitate mummy bandages.
- Leave a small opening at the top so that you can add the eyes after baking.
Gilding :
- Gently brush the puff pastries with egg yolk to ensure they are golden-brown when cooked.
Cooking :
- Place the mummies on a tray lined with baking paper and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
Finish :
- Once out of the oven, add two chocolate chips or raisins to each mummy to form the eyes.
Tip: Serve these mini mummies warm for an even more gourmet experience, with the crisp contrast of puff pastry and the sweetness of fig jam.
These mummy-shaped puff pastries are perfect for Halloween, as fun as they are delicious!
